Week 8
Welp another week down! AND WOWWWWW…. Fort Worth temple!! Are you kidding me?!? Wow! That was some very exciting news around here let me tell ya. Whole place went nuts when that was said haha!! And who doesn't love when President Nelson gets up and says I have some very exciting news, or there are going to be some changes and then leaves us all on the EDGE of our seats and makes us wait till the next session ahaha! He is by far the most loving human being I have ever known. The joy he brings to the world is something I cannot even describe!!
Welp, thanks to Elder Anderson (Hayden) for giving me the idea to fish. I recently noticed that we have a pond behind our backyard. He gave me the idea to go out and buy a cheap fishing pole… and that’s exactly what i did haha. This morning I went fishing in my backyard pond and caught between 15-20 fish which I never expected haha. But the best part of all was that I caught a bullfrog too haha. Little did I know I was reeling in a frog! Thanks elder anderson for the idea!
Something super important but we must always remember is to always turn to God in any time of need! I love fishing. In the middle of my fishing session, my reel broke. I looked my reel and saw it was missing a small nut in order to get it working again. I am standing in these super tall reeds and deep holes where the horses have stepped into the mud. It was totally lost and I was very worried. The first thought I had was to pray. Satan said no, you don't need him… as time had passed, I knew what I should do. I prayed and asked Heavenly Father to help me find this nut. Almost like a needle in the haystack - i kidd you not!! But my favorite sayings kept coming to my mind, "doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith,", "my faith, his power"... Once I had finished my prayer, I opened my eyes, took one step back, and about a foot n half deep hole, one of those hoof print holes, was this little itty bitty nut. How on earth did I find it! I then thanked God for that small miracle I saw in my life! We can have experiences just like this in our everyday life! Although it sounded so silly and small it strengthened my testimony so strongly! And I'm so grateful I was able to continue to fish with a smile on my face:))
Little funny story! We were doing some street contacting this week on the UNT campus and found ourselves talking to someone about the Book of Mormon. During the middle of our conversation, a Muslim man walked by and yelled, “Oh don’t you dare believe these people, they just want you for themselves, they are full of lies”. Wow…it was both funny but scary because we didn’t know how the student we were talking to would react! Luckily, she still listened, accepted a Book of Mormon and sounds very interested so that’s a huge blessing!!
Sorry more stories, yeah, as some of you might remember, I caught a lizard a few weeks back and named him Fred, the one who escaped the next day in the house? Anyways… I FOUND HIM!!!!!!!.... but not in a good place. I opened the closest one day, and there was Fred in a sticky mouse trap… umm, yeah, he passed away but I still think he’s a good pet. ahah
We took Kristi to the temple for the first time last Friday!! She was so excited to go. She was baptized about a month n half ago and we did some baptisms for the dead! It was such a cool experience being able to see someone go for the first time the joy on her face was indescribable! Alsooooo… don’t judge…but my toenails are still painted from when I went to Lake Powell 2 n half months ago, kind of crazy and ya, I had to ask for socks at the temple so no one saw them hahaha.
Quick quote of the week, “I have failed many times, many times in my life. But more importantly, I've learned from every setback I proudly own up to my mistakes, grown from disappointments, and now look at me”. I love this quote because it shows how much we can become if and when we fall/fail! We must be in the mindset of, “congratulations, I just got stronger”. We must feed off our mistakes and use them to build us back up and fuel us! I challenge each of us to do so this week, build ourselves back up. Let’s learn and grow from our mistakes, be better than we were yesterday!! Push ourselves each day and watch the progression. Life is a process… Don’t endure to the end, enjoy to the end!! Love you all so much!
Till next week, Elder Mortensen outa here!
