Week 7

Welp another one down, this week was kind of hectic but at the same time kind of slow.     Elder Benson got ET’d which some of you maybe saw on my facebook story. He went to Colleville to sub someone out who is leaving to their original assignment. It’s sad to see him head out after such short time as comps together. He will now be a zone leader up there, working with the AP’s and President Chapman so he’ll be great.     Super funny experience. Elder Layton and I were knocking doors and we met a family who spoke only Spanish.  Elder Layton knows some VERY broken Spanish. They invite us in. This family also has a son who knows VERY broken English. Haha. Elder Layton was trying his very best to communicate with the son and the family in broken Spanish and in English. He was trying so hard to teach them the restoration. They said they have met with missionaries before and they showed us a Book of Mormon. At this point I was thinking this family was golden and Elder...

Week 6

Welp, another week down! I feel I'm finally settling down and getting in a groove. Other than I have a cold haha which for some reason won't go away haha!     So one of the coolest things I saw this week was an armadillo. Did you know that Texas will give you a cash reward if you get rid of an armadillo because they are known for eating up all the farm food. So they say if you kill it, you get a reward, at least that’s what I am told. Most get killed by getting ran over. It is called a “texas speed bump” haha. We found one this week, picture attached, but we didn't feel right to kill it haha!     I don't think I've talked about my companions much but I am in a trio. Elder Benson is from Blackfoot, Idaho and lived on a farm. He loved to wrestle and was very good at it. Elder Layton (who is my trainer) is from Ohio. He is the middle child of 13 kids which is kinda insane so that’s a little something with them. Elder Layton’s original call was to London, England and th...

Week 4 - Clear Creek Texas

Image
Well... I am finally in Texas and wow... it is hotter and flatter than you could ever imagine. I made a goal in the MTC that on my first day I would have someone commit to baptism and even though it was a lofty goal, I had this quote in mind "my faith, His power". I had enough faith that I was able to accomplish that goal and welp... I did it with God’s power! We went tracting the very first day after flying in, and we met a man who’s grandma had just died. We taught about the plan of salvation and eternal families and he ate up the words we shared. It was so awesome. We asked if he would be rebaptized (he had been baptized as a baby) and have all the blessings from that and he said he would. We got his number and name and have an appointment this week. I hope that he will have that opportunity to be baptized.     I’m assigned to a small town outside Denton called Clear Creek. Ummm, we live in the loft of a barn hahaha. It’s been a different experience. The number of spiders ...
