Week 12

Welp another one down mis amigos!! This week was definitely an interesting one. haha I am not sure where to start!

Pet Fred… if some of you remember him, I change out the pet every night so we don't kill them but we always have a little lizard in our jar haha! And our rotating pet keeps us good company. Unfortunately we found another dead pet Fred. He somehow got squished in the door frame and became a pancake. hahahaha But as you all know, "he's still a good pet":))

An elder had surgery so Elder Layton had to sit with him for the day and I GOT TO DRIVE!!!! Oh wow! What a feeling it was to be behind the wheel again. I loved driving that whole day! ahhh

The walk-up songs are and going to continue. haha I don’t know a lot of songs by heart so it’s hard to switch them up every now and then. BUT… speaking of walk-up songs, we went to a baseball field complex, and WOW, did that put me in the feels of being home ahha. I miss baseball so much. I found 3 baseballs while we were there andddd i took them home with me ahahah!

The lessons are starting to go up and i am sooooo grateful for that. Haha We are starting to find a groove with our friends in Denton haha! We met some CRAZY people this week too, one was named… well we didn't get his name cause he just yelled for an hour and a half at us ahah! He either had white powder on his mouth from too many powdered donuts orrrrr something else. haha We got out of the car and he calls us over, he was walking inside some tennis courts for some exercise and so there was a fence between us and that was a life saver. haha He yelled at us for quite a bit, he was talking about “slaying true dragons, not knocking doors” I’m like what? Haha There were times I was shaking from being scared of him and it was cold. He would bang and shake on the fence and yell and cuss and ya he wasn't too friendly. I remembered a quote I love “I fear no man”. I said it quietly out loud in the middle of his yelling and felt some WAVE of spirit completely overtake me!! I ended up holding up my hand in the middle of him yelling, to indicate to shut up, ahha, he said a sarcastic voice with a big fake grin on his face “oh let’s hear it then, let’s see it”! I pulled out a Book of Mormon and gave a short but powerful testimony and promised him blessings and an answer if he reads this Book of Mormon.  I told him when you receive your answer about this book… give us a call, there’s a number on the inside, then we walked away and he was stunned and had no words ahah! I thought to myself, the rocky quote “we can do this all day”! That was a huge testimony builder for me and I am grateful for that experience!

Another story, we finished a lesson kind of late at night and we were walking back to the car. At the car I stopped at the door after opening it. Elder Layton had started the car and had buckled in. I said, I don’t feel like were done yet. They were like ugh okayyyy, cause we were planning on going home after that lesson! We decided to knock a super dark door. A guy answered with a questioned face and said “its late!!” we were like oh were so sorry! He goes “oh no I’m not shewing you away… I’m inviting you in…” very creepy and he did it in a slow deep voice. He was saying stuff like “it’s not safe out here at a time like this”…. VERYYYYY CREEEEPYYY.We walked in, me first, Layton second, then the man, then Elder Dille. What Dille saw but we didn't see was that he had a handgun in his waistband of his shorts which Dille saw and wow scary… We sat down, in a very grubby apartment that stunk but were ready to teach. Dille was extra quiet during the lesson because he knew something we didn't. As we sat there, I too noticed multiple knives and guns just laying around his house. I was very uneasy with all of this and thought… this must just be Texas orrrrr get out of here. We asked for his number so we could maybe contact him, he reached behind him, to where his gun was, we all FROZE knowing what he was going for, and he whipped out a……….. wallet. Haha He’s like “let me write this down”, hahaha SO STINKING SCARY! I could've sworn my voice was cracking and whimpering while i was saying the number out loud ahhahah but wow so scary! He (Keeth is his name) ended up being super friendly, very creepy, but said he would be coming to church on Sunday. Sunday rolled around and he texted us and said “unfortunately i wont be able to make it… I’m feeling some dizzies at the moment”... not sure what that meant but wow those 2 stories were pretty dang creepy and scary and wanted to share. haha

Quote of the week “as we make Christ the center of our lives, our fears will be replaced by courage.” Thomas S. Monson! I love this quote so much because it is so true! Christ can replace any negative feeling that may occur and have and can completely FLIP it around! We ALL must continue, including myself, to try and find new ways to be putting Christ in the center of our lives no matter what! He is our rock, our foundation… Helaman 5:12!! I love you guys so much thanks for the emails and have a blessed week!
