Week 14

Welp another one down my guys! This week was just full of crazy stories so let’s just hop into it so it’s not that long haha

So long but we met this lady and her name was Beryl. We met her two weeks ago. She had said yes to baptism the day we met her if she found the things we were telling her were true! So awesome, so we set up another time to meet and talk about the church and the history behind it! So exciting, Wednesday rolls around and we walk to her apartment. I see her through the screen door and she’s panicking inside her house, mumbling, telling me something about bills and letters and money. I am like, what!? Obviously, I didn't say that but thought it! Lo and behold she just got robbed 15 minutes prior to us coming. She was freaking out “call the bleep cops my phone got stolen too”. I ended up calling the cops and they said they were on their way. SOOOOO confusing… we found out later she has dementia… she thought we were the cops when we first rolled up and tried to describe to her that we were the missionaries you talked to not too long ago! She then thought we stole the money from her place, FREAKING OUT, we were trying to tell her that we are the good guys not the bad guys and that we had arrived after this happened. She’s like NOOOOO I saw you guys here when it happened, you are all witnesses, we were freaking out!! Our mission president wouldn't answer the phone and we didn't want to leave because that looks guilty if we fled the scene and who knows what she will say to the cops! I spent about an hour with her as my companions were trying to figure out new ways to go about this INSANE situation. I was freaking out talking to her. First it was 2 people then 7 then 3 people going back and forth about who stole the money and family and wow so crazy!! At one point she leans forward to me and whispers, “I think those 2 over there did it” (meaning my companions) I was like noooooo, I was with them the whole time they didn't do it!! She goes “ohhhhh you were in it tooooooo!!!!” IM LIKE MAMMMMMM I was not a part of this!! She’s like “don't worry you will go down in court with me if it comes down to it…” 3 hours passed, we had to cancel other lessons we had scheduled, anddddd the cops didn't show. We finally just had to leave ahhahahahahaha!! And haven't gotten a call or anything since soooo i think we are in the clear as far as our guilt and participation in the whole robbery. hahah

The waistband gun guy… Keith… YAY, he came to church yesterday. hahha So amazing! He was so nervous that he would feel like a threat to everyone. I was like ummmm do not worry!! I was worried he would bring a gun. haha! He whipped out a vape at the end of sacrament thinking he could get a quick puff in before the next meeting but we kindly told him he couldn’t do that inside and he made a quick trip outside the church and then joined us for 2nd hour. Quite the sight. I don’t even know haha, but we stopped him just in time before anything got too bad. haha

Tom is a person we met from a referral, he is amazing, and we have been teaching him every so often and he is probably 40 years old, loves the gospel, quit his job to take care of his dad so he’s always available. Recently his dad(who had dementia) fell and hurt himself bad and took him to the hospital. At the hospital Tom found out he has something wrong with his legs because of his diabetes and so both him and his dad are in the hospital right now. He is scheduled for baptism on Dec 4. I’m asking if you guys can pray for him and his dad that they can make a full recovery! But he is amazing and I am so excited for him and his desire to be baptized!!

So yes, we buried the cigarettes this week… it was around 600-650 cigarettes that we buried like WOW!!! We dug up some dirt behind the barn that no one knows where it is! And dumped them ALLL!! So crazy, they are on baptism date as well for the 27th and yes its very soon and close but another ask sorry, prayers for them and their desire to continue to quit smoking if you guys can that would be amazing!! They are so close to getting there to the peak of their struggles!!

Quick quote of the week! “Try a little harder, to be a little better!” - Gordon B. Hinckley! I love this quote because we can all including myself get just a little bit better each and every day! We could give that extra compliment, extra smile, extra wave, extra door, extra time to something!! We can always get better each and every day!! I love you all so much! Email me or message me on messenger if you want to! Let me know if you have any suggestions for quitting smoking and helping with tools like that!
