Week 16 And 17
Yes, I know, I know I missed last week and I’m very sorry for that!! It’s been a very stressful past 2 weeks and a lot of changes are occurring and anyways here’s the letter for today!
2 weeks ago, I went from a trio to just me and Dille. And I’ll be honest, it was very weird. Haha But anyways, we got things under control and are putting in the work. We had a great Thanksgiving and got invited to a members home for thanksgiving, played games and ate to much dinner gained a couple pounds with that night. Not kidding! I’ve gained some weight so far on the mish haha and since were already on the topic, we still get up to work out with bishop every morning and that is a highlight every day. ahha
Anyways… onto this week because this week was a bop!! I’ve been taking it upon myself to put everything on hold and take away all distractions and as hard as it is, the miracles and power i have gained from it ITS INDESCRIBABLE and this week truly showed it!!
We talk all the time in district council about finding the ONE, just as Christ would. And as missionaries it’s our job to find “the one”. The one who is ready to hear the gospel and enter the waters of baptism so that’s been my MAIN focus this week and it was amazing!! As we put everything on the Lords table, he blesses us and we trust his plan!
(On Thursday we put a total of 4 people on baptism date… 3 of those people were on first contact! WOW! We were so blessed this week, first door we knocked that morning he answered his name was timothy golden, we talked about Christ and how he can bless us, i shared 3rd Nephi 27:2 and asked if Jesus was here what would you ask of him, he said hope faith guidance, we then shared verse 11 then 16, we asked about baptism and we promised him blessings if he was baptized by priesthood authority, and we set a date right then and there for a baptism haha!! And obviously it was a longer talk than 2 min but we pushed with the spirit and authority and got him on date, that’s ¼ that day. We decided to go “soloing” which means we got to an apartment complex and one person goes on the other side of the hall and we go solo, yes some people will say why would you do that, it’s because its effective, we aren’t breaking rules and its efficient, more doors, less time, i knocked on a door, his name was uriah we talked quite a bit I told him Gods plan and what it can do for him. I shared alma 7:11-13 talked about he knows exactly what you’re going through. I switched it up right then to baptism asked if he had been baptized before, he said yes. I asked what that feeling was, he said amazing, i testified with some balla power, and shared 3rd Nephi 27:16 again, and after more and more talking I put that guy on baptismal date as well!! Boom just like that 2/4 down, so sick we are so blessed! We had a zoom lesson with a grey dot, finding him was a miracle! I was scrolling through all the people old missionaries had rested. I got a prompting to call this guy up. His background was sketch, he was put to rest because he said no to baptism because he didn’t want to commit to “one church” and didn’t want more lessons from the missionaries, we called him up, set a lesson up on zoom, we had the lesson in the car and lo and behold we taught him the resto and switched it up to baptism, and for some reason we got prompted to talk about it and yep lo and behold we put him on baptism date as well ahah ¾! We then continued to solo at this apartment complex, i started one side and comp started another side, i knocked my first door and talked to him for about 15 min and committed him to baptism and he said yes and were going to meet with him again, but in the meantime my comp had knocked the whole hall and made it to the door next to me and we were both talking to our own people just right next to each other haha it was pretty funny, anyways i finished my convo with diego and hopped with my comp, we talked to her, talked about baptism and boom just like that put her on date as well 4/4 just like that, WOW what a blessed day and week!)
And so now we have 5 people on baptism date… it was 6 but not anymore because yesterday I GOT TO PARTICIPATE IN MY FIRST BAPTISM!!!! Yayyyyyyyy, my good friend Tom was baptized yesterday and wow what an experience it was for all of us!!! What a week we had this week, so blessed to have the opportunity!! And I can promise the blessings from consecration is so real wow!! This week was amazing and I cannot wait to continue this journey with more and more faith and trust in the Lord and his plan for me!!
I love you all so much! Thanks for all the support and emails you send!! You are the best!! Quote for the week… “My faith, his power” not sure if I’ve already used this one but it’s one of my favorites. If we are faithful in everything and we have the strongest faith, it will be given unto you, right? It’s something so real and its crazy to think like that, ask and ye SHALL receive!! “Expect miracles, receive miracles”! Can’t wait to share them more next week!!
Till next week, Elder Mortensen outta here!
