Week 22-24

First off, hi… and second, yes I’m alive, haha, and third, I am so sorry for not writing an email for these past 2-3 weeks! I’ll get better at it and find the groove again. haha

Week 22-23 ish

So, the last time you all heard from me I was living with the zone leaders temporary and serving both the YSA ward and my Clear Creek ward. Transfers were on the 5th of Jan and I surprisingly went back to Clear Creek with a new companion named Elder Johnson! He has been out now for 19 months and is from Vegas!

We picked him up on Wednesday but because we our truck is STILL in the repair shop, we spent a lot of time goal setting and talking about pasts and what we want to change going forward as we serve with one another! We have also been working on cleaning up our area book and still more goal setting. In our first 4 days together we put 4 people on baptismal dates! What a start to our companionship. On day 5, we had my favorite thing ever… ALLY WAS BAPTIZED!

You might remember Ally. She is part of the YSA ward and I had taught her quite a bit while serving in the YSA ward. She was baptized and we got to be a part of it and I couldn't be more thrilled and thankful to be part of her journey! Wow, she is a spiritual giant haha!

My companion and I help teach 2 new life help courses; Emotional resilience and a personal finance class. These are 2 classes that are faith based and are truly so much fun be a part of!

Monday rolls around and we played basketball ALL DAY LONG, most I have ever played before! And wow, I was wasted after that!

WeeK 23-24 ish. I don’t know. Time is blending.

We found some AMAZING MIRACLE PEOPLE! But towards the end of the week it slowed down and was so sad! But then on Sunday morning i had a sore throat and it then turned into a sniffle and i was so scared i was sick. THEN Monday morning hit and I was DEAD! Wow, I was so sick and coughing and sniffling and sneezing and my throat killed and ya it was NOT good haha!

Tuesday was even worse and we decided to get tested and took 2 tests annndddddd POSITIVE, ugh, great, there we go. What a way to ruin the week. ahahha! Quarantine in the barn, let’s gooooo!! So much fun… not ahhaha! Made it through a Covid week in the barn and then bam, Elder Johnson started to feeling iffy so we took another round of tests   anddddd Elder Johnson was positive!!! SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!?!?! WOW, what a mood killer. We had to start our whole quarantine over again AGGGHHHH! We play games, we study, we go fishing out in our back pond, and that about sums up our whole lives for the past week n half haha.

WOW, feeling cooped up and just wanting to do something ahha! Anyways that’s my shpill from the past couple weeks. I was sick all over Christmas and New Years and now we take turns getting Covid. There are some ups and downs for sure. I would be lying if I said the mission was just all ups haha! But i couldn't be more grateful for it ALLl! I wouldn’t change it for anything! I have learned so much in such a short amount of time and I cannot wait to learn more! I also passed my 5 month mark and feel like I AM RUNNING OUT OF TIME! HOLY COW!!!!! I AM SO SCARED! I feel I have 0 time left even though I have 19+ months left. I feel it’s all going too fast. So scared haha! But its motivating because 2 years gone away and you never put that badge on as a young missionary ever again. Just gotta make the most of the short amount of time you have!

Thank you again for the packages and letters I received over the past while and holidays! Means so much! Hope you have a great rest of your week!! I love you all!

Till next week, Elder Mortensen outta here!
