Week 34
Okay whoops wow… sooooo a full transfer with no emailing. I am SOOOO bad at emailing now haha. So here’s pretty much rundown of what went down last transfer…it was one heck of a tough transfer. We made it through and slowly have progressed the ward and YSA and really focused on member work throughout of the whole transfer because of how weak the ward was. That’s it for update haha.
Sooooo now back to now…last Wednesday we had transfers, and so the new companion is…my homie, the man the myth the legend is ELDER WORMELL!! Now some of you might remember him, back in my first area in Denton. He was my ZL and as my trainer and my comps in Denton were very hard to get along with, I would rely on him and always ask for helpful tips. I had some of my most spiritual moments in Denton with him. He was there as my greenie got sent home, as I wanted to work so bad but my trainer or other comps wouldn't. He would always help me with advice and everything! His wish was to have me kill him off his mission because he has 2 transfers before he goes home. And the blessing has come!! I was so excited!!
Me and elder wormell have been companions for about 5-6 days and WOW, talk about some of the craziest and hardest and wow days of my mission! Me and Elder Wormell want to consecrate ourselves and truly sacrifice our hearts and put it on the alter of sacrifice! So the reason I say it’s been a hard past 5 days…is cause we have SACRIFICED EVERYTHING!!!! Any single thing that takes your mind away from the work we sacrificed and consecrated ourselves… sooooo some examples of sacrifices which made it so hard: contact with some of my most loved ones, friends, time with family, baseball, fishing, only listening to Motab, working out for more than 30+ min, all these things I love. But, they would take some of my thoughts away from the work.
Now the next thing I’m going to say might seem weird to some but to me its sacred! We made a little sacrificial alter and put it in the middle of our room. We got a box and put anything that distracted us in it. Like baseball (put a ball in the box), fishing (put hooks in), anything that would take our thoughts away. We taped up the box covered it in white paper and put everything we loved and cared about in that box. We printed off a heart and put it on the top of all the boxes showing that we are giving our HEART to this work and put it on the sacrificial alter. The reason I love this is because we see that each time we walk past…we know what we are sacrificing for the Lord! This transfer or hopefully 2 will be one of the best in my mission - I can promise that now! Although its one of the hardest things to do, I know we will be blessed for the sacrifices we make and we have already seen it in the past 5 days more than ever before…
We are stretching our faith more than ever before, our goals this transfer are out there, but we know that with full faith, exact obedience, willing sacrifice, and complete consecration we will get those goals through and by the Lord!!
I love to think about my mission and how far I’ve come… but wow I’m running out of time! And time is the one thing you cannot get back in life, and its hitting me so hard coming up on my 8 month mark next Sunday! I am running out of time…so I intend to give my SOUL to this work and continue to do so! These next 6-12 weeks are going to change my life, my relationships, my future! New missionaries are told to never get on that plane with regrets because you can never change it no matter how hard you want to! So that’s exactly what I intend to do!
So now the past 5 days some quick miracles and such… Brittney? Brittney has been taught for the past 2 n half years…and has not been baptized. Me and Elder Wormell have had one lesson with her. She is getting baptized this Saturday! We are so excited for her. Many missionaries from the past who taught her (who have gone home) are coming back here for her baptism this Saturday! One missionary who’s been home for a while will be baptizing her and she is so excited wow!! We watched general conference session 2 on Sunday and she loved it!
Another quick story…we met a man who at first we thought was higher than a kite! But we taught him and a friend later and the spirit was so strong! He had a picture of superman on the wall so we ended up doing a lesson comparing life to superman and kryptonite! He said his kids see him as superman but he has so far to go. We told him this is life and we taught him about the Superman – Jesus Christ! Overall it was the most INSANE experience ever! The spirit was so strong. We gave both Miguel and Fabien priesthood blessings and they both cried we cried and the spirit probably did too! They both wanna come to church and their families.
At the very end of the lesson we got on our knees and we asked Fabien to say the prayer and he did and wow it was a good prayer. We finished got up and Miguel was like WAIIITTTTT I WANNA SAY IT!!!! We got back down on our knees and we are holding hands praying cause that’s how he prays…I’m holding his hand…and he starts pleading for forgiveness. “God I promise I want to change I WANT TO CHANGE!!!!” Just pleading. At the end of the prayer, my hand didn't have any circulation he was squeezing my hand sooo hard J!
One last crazy thing – there are a lot of tornado warnings here! Just got another one so I need to finish this email up fast so we can get to the apartment and shelter down!
Overall… I promise I’m going to be good at doing emails from now on, i have no time to fish now on p-days (sacrificed) so I can send emails now! Yay overall love yall hope yall are doing well!
Till next week, Elder Mortensen outa here!
