Week 100!
Wow... first off I want to say sorry, which I know I’ve done before multiple times. But truly I’m sorry, but here I am. I'm not too sure what the last email I wrote was. I think getting my new companion Elder Balderree. So since then Elder Iverson left the following transfer, and it was me and Elder Balderree for that following transfer and then I've now left the Denton YSA. It was 8 months in one area - 1/3 of the mission! Wow what a journey and time it was serving there. Like everything being on the Lord's errand, it was bittersweet to leave. The semester ended and it was very much slowed down so it was a good time to say so long to the Denton YSA! Long live the friendships that we've been so blessed with!
I'm now just south of Fort Worth serving in a city called Burleson TX! I've been here for about 4 weeks I think. I'm with a new comp his name is Elder Fike, he is from Montana and did a little bit of forging before the mission…definitely the only one of my comps that does that which is pretty cool! This area has been good. I was blessed to be given the opportunity to speak in our sacrament meeting yesterday! I was blessed to be able to choose the topic for the talk and I chose the sacred topic of "the atonement". I love speaking now which is something I NEVER thought would ever say. It always makes me nervous beyond anything but I actually do enjoy it, something I think my dad reading this called way back in the day haha.
It’s been so amazing these last couple months, we were so blessed to see many come to Christ! There’s nothing more joyful than seeing someone finally just "get it". The Lord is so good, the blessings in this world are sometimes just too good to comprehend! Even something as simple as our eyes that we take for granted...it's a complete mind-blowing THING!! You can see colors and objects and moving objects and standstill objects. Things like that just remind me how much God is behind our lives.
There's a quote I want to share just talking about how good God is: "You relax on the plane without knowing the pilot, you relax on the boat without knowing the captain, you relax on the bus without knowing the driver... why can't you relax in life knowing God’s got you" haha obviously some big things come up in life, but just like a child's heart we can have a child's mind with those big things, "Gods got me". He's in control he knowing it all, he's seen it all, and his son has felt it all!!!! How powerful, at times it's hard I will admit, but I think it's just such a good reminder even for myself. All it takes is just a little bit of trust! "He's got you" so cool!
I hope everyone has been doing good lately! And never forget there's something you can't ever get back and it's time... spend it wisely with family and friends rejoicing in this great world because you just never know when the Lord's will takes a different turn! Make every second count!:) Love y'all!
Till next week, Elder Mortensen outta here!
